This was designed in 1991 for one of the first micro-breweries in Portland Oregon, and was constructed in phases from 1992-1995.  The first phase was the brew-house, designed to accommodate original copper brewing kettles brought from a brewery in Nordlingen, Germany.  The second phase was the restaurant and taproom.  The design inspirations were  adapted from buildings along the ‘Romantic Road’ in Germany, and various pubs in North Yorkshire, England, to accommodate the owners’ mixed wishes to emulate a German Beer Hall and a Scottish Pub.  I traveled to Rottenburg ob der Tauber and Yorkshire, sampling all along the way, to research building styles and select the exact color scheme for the exterior.  The General Contractor was RH Construction.
